Pricey but great dining experience. The food rivals the best I've eaten in Italy. Funke definitely honors authentic Italian dishes.

Funke is one of the best Italian restaurants in Beverly Hills! Upon walking in your greeted by lovely hostess, who took us upstairs to the second floor where we had a lovely table. The atmosphere is vibrant and lively, with plenty of natural light. Our “captain” was a lovely man named Carmine, who made the experience even better. Actually, all the staff works together effortlessly. It’s really nice flow between the team from start to finish. The food was incredible. I’m vegan so they were accommodating to alter a few of the dishes to be dairy free. The focaccia was some of the best I’ve had anywhere in the world. The herbs and the flavor was just amazing. I also got the crispy artichokes, which were delicious. For my main course, I had the lemon linguine with asparagus. It was delicious! My entire family had amazing food. We celebrated my father’s birthday, such a great place to celebrate a special occasion! Excellent wine, beautiful desserts, and just a great vibe overall! I cannot wait to go back. The third floor rooftop patio is also extremely charming and on a first come first serve basis. Highly recommend Funke!

The bagel with burrata and veggies is a must have, it is flavor in every bite. If I were to come back I might just come back for this one. The drink was as bad as it could poss be. We ordered two of the chef special pastas. The ravioli in butter sauce was simple but oh so good. The other pasta was in red sauce with zucchini, didn’t quite hit the spot. The overall experience was nice, especially the staff spending time to explain things on the menu. Things I did not like- 1) even after making a reservation we were given a shitty table in the corner, where we were sitting almost in the lap of the party next to us. 2) The price is too high , but maybe it’s justified because of the location. 3)It all seemed a bit pretentious.

I cannot rave about this enough! My experience at Funke was incredible. I walked in with no reservation as a party of one, and they were more than accommodating with no notice. They even offered me a choice between the outdoor rooftop patio or the mezzanine bar with the full dinner menu! I was brought upstairs and sat at the gorgeous marble bar, where behind the counter on the ceiling mounted TV they were streaming a live feed of their pasta kitchen downstairs where a chef was rolling out the pasta fresh by hand. I’d found out about this place from the Netflix documentary, “Chef’s Table: Pasta,” and it fully lived up to the hype. The signature tagliatelle was life changing. I’ll never be able to look at store bought pasta without a little regret and my homemade pasta skills are woefully rusty compared to the windowpane thin strands of pasta I was served. The service was incredible: thoughtful and patient and always ready to take my lead when I was ready for the next steps of service. While the atmosphere was lively and the music was driving, it was loud for a Monday night. I won’t hold that too much against them. To be a busy restaurant going into a recession that is fully booked on a Monday is a fantastic problem to have. I can’t wait to come back with my husband so I can eat the other 90% of the menu I couldn’t get to as just one person.

Great pasta restaurant by Evan Funke in the northern part of the luxury enclave of Beverly Hills. Space is beautiful with 2 floors and a rooftop terrace. Pasta is handmade (there is a pasta lab below with a video feed on the TVs) and the recipes and flavors lean traditional with Roman influences. Definitely make reservations ahead of time!

Hands down some of the best pasta I have had in LA. I am well aware of celebrity Chef Evan Funke and have also been to Felix Trattoria over in Venice, his other restaurant, which I really enjoyed. I would say this is even a better, and classier version. Inside is absolutely beautiful and has a very late night, early 1990s, Miami neon vibe to it. It’s the sort of place would be great to bring a date or friends. The only issue we had was pricing was a bit obscene for some items, such as $8 a glass for iced tea, with no refills, but aside from the pricing it was a great experience. Our server was also very polite and everything that we ordered arrived fairly quickly except the last two dishes were pasta and one arrived over 10 minutes after the other, which was really inconvenient. Parking in the area is honestly really easy, there is a large underground parking structure right across the street with the first two hours of free parking. Otherwise it would be metered street parking which will be hard to find in this part of town. We ordered many items which are all delivered when they were ready at staggered order. First came the Sfincione Palmeritano which was honestly delicious focaccia bread with cheese and marinara on top and it really was a great start to the meal. Next was the Fiori di Zucca which was a real hit at the table. The ricotta cheese inside was heavenly, and I loved how crunchy the squash was. Next came my favorite dish the night, which was the Gamberi in Salsa Verde. The prawns were cooked perfectly and the Salsa Verde sauce was absolutely amazing. I soaked it up with the focaccia bread and it was an amazing combination. For our entrées, we chose two of the pastas, which were the Tagliatelle Bolognese and the Cacio E Pepe. Both were absolutely fantastic and honestly, some of the best pasta that I’ve ever had in Los Angeles. I would highly recommend this place although it is very expensive, so going in, I would suggest being careful of what you order or if budget is not a concern then just go have fun, you will really enjoy yourself.
